'Chile's Los Robles co-operative, formed by local farmers after a devastating earthquake in l939, is one of the best examples of ethical wine trading, with a thriving wine business and workers who have access to medical centres, canteens, housing projects, educational bursaries and even river-diverting schemes to allow the poorest farmers to harvest their grapes safely. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes that are hand picked, the wine is Goldish green in colour with intense herbal and floral scents, a fresh and crisp wine with a hint of fruit and fresh herbs. A perfect accompaniment to lobster, oysters, scallops and fish – also good with cakes and desserts!
