A charming and funny present for any tea lover. The Set contains a 100% wool handmade sheep tea cosy, produced by Kenana Knitters in Kenya, as well as a box ofTeadirect blacktea (80 tea bags). About the Producers: The teas are sourced from fair trade producers in central Tanzania, south western Uganda and central Kenya. Tea is an important crop for many people in the region but tea prices are so low that many growers live in grinding poverty. Tea bushes take several years to mature and simply growing something else is often not an option for these specialist farmers. Furthermore, tea farmers are very dependent on the black tea factories that process their tea. The green leaves must be processed with 24 hours of being picked or the quality becomes very poor. This leads to unfair practices with tea factories driving down prices knowing that farmers have no choice but to sell. Kenana Knitters started in 1998 in Njoro, Kenya. The primary object being to help rural women find some much needed income, utilizing their spinning and knitting skills. The group buys homespun wool produced locally, the knits it into toys, clothing and other accessories.
