Product Information No. 3 Dezember 2003 ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus Solvent-free exterior and interior wood finish - semi-transparent, satin-matt Description Osmo ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus is a solventfree semi-transparent, satin-matt exterior and interior wood finish. In one application only it enhances the natural beauty of the wood, bringing out grain and texture. Osmo ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus is natural oil based and micro-porous, allowing the wood to breathe. It will not crack, peel, flake or blister. It is water-repellent and resistant to weathering. The solvent- and water-free Osmo ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus has the uniquely high solid content of 99 % which accounts for its durability and large coverage. Only one coat is needed for what - with conventional stains - is normally achieved in two or three coats, thereby saving material, time and labour costs. Product based on natural oils Osmo ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus is based on natural vegetable oils. Natural oils penetrate deeply into the wood, keeping it elastic and healthy, and preventing it from getting dry and brittle. Shrinking and swelling are reduced. The wood is allowed to breathe. Moisture can evaporate. Health and environment Osmo ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus does not contain biocides nor preservatives and can therefore also safely be used indoors. It is safe for man, animal and plant when dry and complies with German DIN 53 160 (fast to perspiration and saliva) and EURO Norm EN 71 (suitable for children's toys). Test certificates available upon request. The principle of Osmo to manufacture and supply only products which are safe and environmentally friendly during production as well as for application resulted in the successful certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality management) and DIN EN ISO 14001 (environmental management) by the TÜV (Technical Control Board Rhineland). Uses All exterior woodwork which is expected to keep its natural appearance, such as horizontal and vertical sidings, windows, claddings, clapboards (shutters), carports, fences, pergolas, exterior plywood, shingles, beehives, dovecotes, summerhouses, green-houses, flower boxes etc. Also for interior wooden ceilings and panellings (Trial application recommended). Excellent to renew old micro-porous stains. Colour Range Osmo ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus is available in 12 natural wood shades to match the most commonly used wood species, and in four special shades. As it is semi-transparent the final appearance will be influenced by the natural colour of the wood. Trial application is recommended for best results. Apply a further thin coat on clean, dry surface. Can sizes 0.375 litre, 0.75 litre, 2.5 litres Larger volumes please enquire. Coverage Approx. 26 m²/litre on smooth wood. Rough or striated wood in general needs more material due to its surface structure. Surface preparation Wood surface must be clean, dry (maximum moisture content 20 %) and frost- free.) Old paints and varnishes must be removed (by Osmo PAINT REMOVER or by sanding). Old micro-porous stains need only be cleaned or lightly sanded. If additional protection against blue stain, rot and insect decay is desired for exterior wood surfaces (e. g. windows), pre-treat with Osmo WR BASE COAT Aqua* and allow 12 hours to dry. Tip: To remove mildew and algae use Osmo GARD CLEAN* and rinse with clean water. Compatibility Can be painted over: Osmo ONE COAT ONLY, Osmo FENCE AND GARDEN STAIN, Osmo CLEAR OIL WOOD FINISH, Osmo WOOD OILS and other micro-porous stains or semi-oil finishes. Pressure impregnated wood, Osmo WOOD STAIN and PROTECTOR*, Osmo WR BASE COAT Aqua* and similar products. Corrosion In areas of high humidity, the use of galvanised, non-oxidising nails and fasteners is recommended. Method of application By brushing. Osmo ONE COAT ONLY HS Plus is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well. Use rather stiff quality brush, and apply a super thin coat evenly and thoroughly along wood grain on clean, dry and frost- free surface. New wood: where possible apply on all sides of the wood before installation. Tip: If applied too thickly, this product may leave shiny areas. However, these shiny areas will weather naturally within a short period of time leaving an even, satin-matt appearance. If applying the product to interior timber, please remove any excess immediately with a lint-free cloth. Windows etc.: a second thin coat of Osmo CLEAR OIL WOOD FINISH 000 can be applied, allowing 24 hours drying time between coats. If a satin finish is desired apply one final coat of Osmo COLOR CLEAR OIL WOOD FINISH 000 when thoroughly dry (dependant upon weather conditions and degree of humidity in the air). This will also increase the durability of the finish. Cleaning of tools With Osmo BRUSH CLEANER (benzene- free) or white spirit. Drying time approx. 12 hours - provide good ventilation - (dust dry - approx. 6 hours) Storage Can be stored up to 5 years or more if can is full and tightly closed. Store in dry place. If thickened by frost it will regain normal consistency under normal temperatures within 24-36 hours. Do not fill into containers normally used for food and drink. Work in areas with good ventilation. Do not apply in the presence of naked flames, hot surfaces or unprotected electrical equipment. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water. Contains 2-butanonoxime. May produce an allergic reaction. Safe for man, animal and plant when dry. Wash out any used cloth immediately or store in an airtight container (danger of combustion).
