Description OS COLOR COUNTRY COLOUR is an opaque, satin-matt wood finish for exterior (and interior) use of unsurpassed durability. Deep rich colours will hide grain and colour of the wood but will allow texture to show through, maintaining the character of the wood. OS COLOR COUNTRY COLOUR is based on natural oils and micro-porous, allowing the wood to breathe. It will not crack, flake, peel or blister. It is extremely weather- and UV-resistant, water-repellent and moisture regulating. It has been well-tried for decades under the severest weather conditions (seaside and mountains). OS COLOR COUNTRY COLOUR is viscous, easy to apply and easy to maintain. It has a very high solids content (over 50%) resulting in extremely large coverage and long durability. Complete coverage in two coats. Product based on natural oils OS COLOR COUNTRY COLOUR is based on natural vegetable oils. Natural oils penetrate deeply into the wood, keeping it elastic and healthy, and preventing it from getting dry and brittle. Shrinking and swelling are reduced. The wood is allowed to breathe. Moisture can evaporate. Health and environment OS COLOR COUNTRY COLOUR does not contain biocides nor preservatives and can therefore also be used indoors. It is safe for man, animal and plant when dry and complies with German DIN 53 160 (fast to perspiration and saliva) and EURO Norm EN 71 (suitable for children's toys.) Test certificates available. The principle of OS COLOR to manufacture and supply only products which are safe and environmentally friendly during production as well as for application resulted in the successful certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality management) and DIN EN ISO 14001 (environmental management) by the TÜV (Technical Control Board) Rhineland Uses All outside wood where exceptional resistance and durability is asked for, such as wooden sidings and claddings, trim, clapboards (shutters), fences, shakes, shingles, pergolas, garden houses, boat houses, garden furniture etc. Good on all kinds of wood, new or weathered, rough or smooth. Ideal to renew previously stained, weathered or discoloured wood surfaces, giving protection and beauty for many years. Inside wood: where a satin-matt, intensely coloured but micro-porous finish is desired. Can also be painted on stone and brick walls (not plaster), iron and metal gutters (trial application recommended). Colour Range OS COLOR COUNTRY COLOUR is available in white and 15 colours. When using several cans with different batch numbers please mix together in one large container to ensure uniform coloration. No. of coats required Two (white on dark surfaces 2-3). For renovation 1 coat will normally be sufficient. Can sizes 0.75 litre, 2.5 litres Larger volumes please enquire. Coverage 1 litre will cover approx. 16 sq. m smooth wood, two coats, 26 sq. m smooth wood, one coat, Rough or striated wood in general needs more material due to its surface structure. Surface preparation Wood surface must be clean, dry (maximum moisture content 20 %) and frost-free. Old paints and varnishes must be removed (with OS COLOR PAINT REMOVER or by sanding). Old micro-porous stains need only be cleaned or lightly sanded. Remove all fat from metal parts (with OS COLOR BRUSH CLEANER or white spirit). If additional protection against blue stain, rot and mildew is desired, pre-treat with OS COLOR IMPREGNATION WR* (Water Repellent and Preventive Wood Preservative) and allow 12 hours to dry. If a biocide-free water repellent protection is preferred, apply OS COLOR Wax Impregnation WOOD PROTECTOR without synthetic biocides. Compatibility Can be painted over: OS COLOR ONE COAT ONLY, OS COLOR CLEAR OIL WOOD FINISH, OS COLOR WOOD OILS, OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH, OS COLOR FENCE AND GARDEN STAINECOL, OS COLOR WOOD STAIN AND PRESERVATIVE*, OS COLOR WOOD PROTECTOR and OS COLOR WR* (Water Repellent), Pressure-impregnated wood and other micro-porous stains . Corrosion In areas of high humidity, the use of galvanised, non-oxidising nails and fasteners is recommended. Method of application By brushing (or brushing machine, please enquire) OS COLOR COUNTRY COLOUR is ready to use. Do not thin - stir well. Use rather stiff quality brush and apply thinly, evenly and thoroughly along wood grain on clean, dry and frost-free surface. Allow 12 hours drying time. Then apply second coat. New wood: where possible apply first coat on all sides of the wood before installation. If a more satin finish is desired, apply a final coat of OS COLOR CLEAR OIL WOOD FINISH. This will also further improve the durability of the finish. (especially recommended for garden furniture or other surface under mechanical use). Cleaning of tools With OS COLOR BRUSH CLEANER (benzole-free) or white spirit. Drying time approx. 12 hours - ensure good ventilation (dust dry - after approx. 6 hours). Maintenance Very simple. Just apply a further coat on clean, dry surface. Storage Can be stored up to 5 years or more if can is full and tightly closed. Store in dry place. If thickened by frost it will regain its normal consistency under normal temperatures within 24-36 hours. Ingredients 60 - 65 % solids Base: natural vegetable oils (sunflower oil, thistle oil, soybean oil) Pigments: iron oxide and organic pigments, titanium dioxide (white pigment), all approved for use in the food sector Additives: water-repellent additives, siccatives Solvents: disaromatized white spirit - (benzolefree - in compliance with purity demands of the European pharmacopoeia) Full declaration of ingredients upon request Technical Data Specific gravity: 1.0 - 1.2 g/cm3 Viscosity: 14-18', 4 mm according to DIN 53 211, creamy Odour: mild, odourless after drying Flashpoint: Flammable-Flashpoint Setaflash ASTM D > 55 °C. Dried surface hardly flammable according to TL A-053. Fire conduct in compliance with demands of German DIN 4102 (fire conduct of building materials and components) Class B2 (normal inflammability). Caution Keep out of reach of children. Do not fill into containers normally used for food and drink. Work in areas with good ventilation. Do not apply in the presence of naked flames, hot surfaces or unprotected electrical equipment. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water. Wash out any cloths used immediately or store in a airtight container (danger of combustion).
